DALLAS – Kennesaw State claims five of the six indoor track and field Athlete of the Week awards along with one honoree from Liberty.
Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Eric Young II, Kennesaw State - Sr. – Kennesaw, Ga.
Young took fifth in the 200m with a personal best time of 21.06 seconds at the Orange and Purple Invitational. He is now No. 2 in program history and is just .01 seconds off the school record. The senior currently ranks second in Conference USA and No. 21 in the NCAA in that event. Young also ran a leg on the Owls 4x400m team that finished fourth with a new Kennesaw State record time of 3:08.14, placing the owls ahead of runners from Clemson, Georgia Tech and Alabama. That time ranks No. 1 in CUSA and No. 24 in the NCAA this season.
Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Gilles Ouedraogo, Liberty - Jr. – Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Ouedraogo made a successful collegiate debut at Friday's Liberty Open, winning the men's triple jump with a program-record leap of 15.74 meters (51'7.75"). It was the longest jump by a CUSA athlete since 2022 and ranks No. 20 nationally this season.
Men's Freshman of the Week - Gage Voyles, Kennesaw State, Fr. – Dalton, Ga.
Voyles earned the Owls’ lone victory of the Orange and Purple Invitational by clearing 2.12 meters (6'11.5") in the high jump. That mark ranks No. 1 in CUSA and No. 36 in the NCAA this season. The freshman’s efforts placed him ahead of jumpers from competitive Power Four programs such as Tennessee and Clemson.
Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Emma Ferguson, Kennesaw State - Jr. – Rangiora, New Zealand
Ferguson placed fourth in the mile with a personal best time of 4:45.61 at the Orange and Purple Invitational. Marking the tenth fastest mile in KSU history, the junior now ranks No.1 in CUSA and is No. 12 in the NCAA DI South Region.
Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Victoria Joyce, Kennesaw State - Sr. – Rockledge, Fla.
Joyce broke the school record in the triple jump in Clemson, S.C. with a mark of 12.66 meters (41'6.5"), surpassing the previous mark by six inches. That mark ranks first in CUSA and No. 49 in the NCAA this season.
Women's Freshman of the Week - Natalie Harris, Kennesaw State - Fr. – Kennesaw, Ga.
Opening the weekend in the 60m hurdle prelims, Harris’s qualifying time of 8.48 seconds ranks first in CUSA. The freshman followed up 16th overall with a time of 8.58 seconds. She also finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.70 meters (18' 8.5")
, ranking her 12th in CUSA this season.
