DALLAS – Kennesaw State has picked up three Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors following the opening week of the outdoor track and field season. Also receiving recognition was Liberty with two honorees and FIU with one.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Raynell Chambers, FIU – Sr. – Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
In his first event of the 2026 outdoor season, Chambers broke the school record in the 200m and finished third with a time of 20.63 at the USF Alumni Invitational. With that time, he now leads the conference and is ranked ninth in the NCAA.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Emma Sullivan, Kennesaw State – Gr. – Dudley, Mass.
Sullivan finished second in the 400m at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a time of 53.10. That time set a new school record, is ranked second in CUSA, No. 6 in the NCAA East Region and No. 11 in the NCAA this season.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Ben Shughart, Liberty – R-Sr. – Shippensburg, Pa.
Competing for the first time since 2024, Shughart won the Virginia Opener men's javelin competition with a program-record heave of 77.41 meters (253-11), shattering his previous personal best of 69.11 meters (226-9). He now ranks No. 1 in the NCAA, No. 1 in the United States and No. 21 in the world for 2026. It was also the top javelin mark by a CUSA thrower since 2016.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Kali Terza, Kennesaw State – Gr. – Woodstock, Ga.
Terza won the hammer throw at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a personal-best mark of 68.62 meters (225-1) as the only thrower in the field to land a toss over 60 meters. That mark ranks first in CUSA, first in the NCAA East Region and second in the NCAA this season. It also established a new school record.
Men’s Freshman of the Week – Gage Voyles, Kennesaw State – Fr. – Dalton, Ga.
Voyles won the high jump at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a clearance of 2.16 meters (7-1). That mark ranks second in program history, No. 1 in CUSA and the NCAA East Region and No. 3 overall in the NCAA this season.
Women’s Freshman of the Week – Isabella Frattura, Liberty – Fr. – Sparta, N.J.
Frattura made an impressive collegiate debut at the Virginia Opener, placing third in the women's javelin with a program-record mark of 49.79 meters (163-4). She now ranks No. 1 in CUSA this season and No. 19 nationally (No. 4 among freshmen).
