DALLAS – Jacksonville State has placed three athletes on the CUSA Bowling Performers of the Month Team, led by February’s Bowler and Freshman of the Month
Gianna Brandolino, along with
Kaitlyn Stull and
Erin Klemencic. Also making the team were Wichita State’s
Sara Duque, Sacred Heart’s
Madilyn Yockel and Vanderbilt’s
Saphyre Nofuente.
CUSA February Performers of the Month Team
Bowler & Freshman of the Month – Gianna Brandolino, Jax State – Fr. – Channahon, Ill.
During three tournaments in February, Brandolino posted a 220.3 overall average. She was third in the field in traditional scoring with a 225.6 average, highlighted by a 242 against Sacred Heart to help Jax State win by three pins. She also earned all-tournament honors at the Stallings Invitational.
Kaitlyn Stull, Jax State – Fr. – Raleigh, N.C.
Stull was on the all-tournament team at the Big Red Invitational with a 222.33 average with a high game of 258 against Nebraska. She also earned all-tournament honors at the Stallings Invitational. The freshman finished the month with a 222.2 overall average which led Conference USA. Her 60.7% strike percentage was second-best in the league.
Sara Duque Jiménez, Wichita State – Jr. – Medellín, Colombia
Duque Jiménez helped power the Shockers to their second tournament championship of the season at the Big Red Invite in Lincoln, Nebraska. She placed 16
th individually in the traditional games with a 203.5 average and produced the Shockers top game of the competition, firing a 247 against defending NCAA champion Youngstown State.
Erin Klemencic, Jax State – So. – Powder Springs, Ga.
Klemencic was the MVP at the Stallings Invitational with a 232 average in traditional play. Her overall average of 215.6 was fourth-best in the league last month. Klemencic picked up all of her single-pin spares last month and 94.4% of her makable spares.
Madilyn Yockel, Sacred Heart – Jr. – Raymond, N.H.
Yockel helped the Pioneers have an outstanding February, as the team won the New England Cup and took fifth at the Flyer Invitational. At the Flyer Invitational, she led the team with a 207.4 average in team matches and 216.9 in baker play, posting a team-high 266 to begin traditional play. At the New England Cup, she averaged 222.6 to be named to the All-Tournament Team.
Saphyre Nofuente, Vanderbilt – So. – Rocklin, Calif.
In February, Nofuente’s efforts on the lanes helped the No. 2-ranked Commodores earn a runner-up finish at the Storm Flyer Classic. On Day 2 of the event, she racked up scores of 237, 256, 159, 226 and 224, averaging 220.4 pins per game and securing a fifth-place finish and a spot on the all-tournament first team. It was Nofuente’s second consecutive all-tournament team nod as she also received second-team honors at the Northeast Classic in January.
