SB: April 6 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Liberty’s Brynn McManus, Jax State’s Makenna Moore and LA Tech’s Bradi Gallaway earned Conference USA Softball weekly honors.
 
McManus garners Player of the Week honors, while Moore is the Pitcher of the Week, and Gallaway is the Freshman of the Week.
 
Player of the Week – Brynn McManus, Liberty – Senior – OF – McMinnville, Ohio
Last week, McManus batted .714 (10-14) with two doubles, five RBI, two runs, a .750 on base percentage and .857 slugging percentage. She helped Liberty (18-19, 11-4 CUSA) earn a 2-1 series win at Missouri State. She went 2-3 with a run on Tuesday against North Carolina. On Thursday, she went 2-4 during a 2-0 loss at Missouri State. She then recorded back-to-back three-hit games on Saturday, helping Liberty to a doubleheader sweep of the Bears and a series victory. In game one, she went 3-3 with a double, a walk and three RBI. She pushed Liberty's lead to 2-0 with a fifth-inning RBI single, and then a two-run single in the sixth made it 6-0. In game two, an 8-0, five-inning win, McManus batted 3-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs.
 
Pitcher of the Week – Makenna Moore, Jax State – Freshman – Grain Valley, Mo.
Moore (11-1) picked up the win in both of her appearances, going the distance on Thursday and Saturday to help the Gamecocks (29-11, 13-2 CUSA) to a series win over NM State. She surrendered just four earned runs on eight hits across two complete-game efforts. Against an Aggie lineup that leads the league in runs (97) and ranks third in batting average (.317) in league play, Moore registered 13 strikeouts in 14 innings, a 0.86 WHIP and a .154 opponent batting average. After giving up a second solo shot on Thursday, she struck out the next two batters and retired nine straight as the Jax State lineup rallied for a 6-2 advantage. In Saturday’s rubber match, Moore allowed just one earned on two hits with eight strikeouts in a 6-2 win.
 
Freshman of the Week – Bradi Gallaway, LA Tech – Shortstop – Whitesboro, Texas
Gallaway was impressive at the plate all weekend as the true freshman batted .412 (7-17) with a team-high eight RBI and three runs scored. Gallaway had three extra-base hits, including two home runs and one double. The true freshman had two multi-hit games in the series against MTSU. Gallaway powered a 13-3 run-rule victory on Friday, going 3-5 with three RBI, two runs, a home run and a double. She hit a grand slam on Saturday against the Blue Raiders as part of a 2-5 outing. Gallaway had at least one hit in all four games and had one or more RBI in three of four games.  Gallaway recorded seven assists and eight putouts at short.
