DALLAS – Following Week 1 competition, Jax State’s Jamill Williams and Lance Johnson, NM State’s Nick Session, Kennesaw State’s Triston Morgan, and Delaware’s Kevin Moore earned CUSA Player of the Week honors. The weekly awards are voted on by a panel of the league’s media.
 
Offensive Player of the Week – Jamill Williams, Jax State – Gr. – WR – Atlanta, Ga.
Williams had a career night for the Gamecocks (1-1) with seven catches on as many targets for 144 yards and four touchdowns. It was tied for the second-most touchdown receptions in Conference USA history and the most since North Texas’ Jaelon Darden on Dec. 11, 2020. He became the first Gamecock to have four receiving TDs in a game since Alan Bonner did so in 2012 against UT Martin when he had five for a school record. Williams’ scoring plays went for 13, 55, 30 and four yards, and the first three marked the Gamecocks’ first three scores.
 
Defensive Player of the Week – Nick Session, NM State – Gr. – S – Gardena, Calif.
Session recorded a pick-six on the first play of the game, returning an interception 26 yards while breaking several tackles on his way into the end zone to help vault the Aggies (1-1) to a 51-14 victory over Mercyhurst. He led the Aggies in tackles (7) and was one of two players in CUSA with a pick-six during Week 1. Session now has an interception in two straight games and  his interception gives the Aggie defense a forced turnover in 18 consecutive games – tied for the second longest active streak in the FBS behind Jax State.
 
Special Teams Player of the Week – Triston Morgan, Kennesaw State – Sr. – RB – Atlanta, Ga.
Morgan was a Swiss Army Knife for the Owls (1-0) in their season-opening win over West Georgia, tallying a league-high 131 all-purpose yards while also blocking a punt. He returned the opening kickoff 47 yards to set up a Kennesaw State scoring drive on the first possession. Then, at the end of the ensuing Wovles’ series, Morgan got a hand on a punt that only traveled 27 yards to set the Owls up at their own 46-yard line. Later in the opening frame, Morgan took off for a 60-yard touchdown scamper to give the Owls a 12-0 lead. He finished the game with 76 rushing yards on five carries and one catch for eight yards.
 
Freshman of the Week – Kevin Moore, Delaware – Fr. – S – Coram, N.Y.
In his collegiate debut, Moore tallied five tackles, 1.0 TFLs, a pass break up, and a forced fumble in the Fightin’ Blue Hens’ (1-0) romp of Merrimack last Thursday. His forced fumble came with 22 seconds remaining in the first half to lead directly to a touchdown on the next play. Moore’s pass breakup also came in a clutch situation, stymieing the Warriors on a 4^th-and-5 in the final quarter.
 
Offensive Lineman of the Week – Lance Johnson, Jax State – So. – LG – Birmingham, Ala.
Johnson, who earned CUSA All-Freshman honors in his first season last year as a tackle, made the shift inside and dazzled in his first start at guard to the tune of an 82.8 PFF pass block rating. The Jax State offensive line kept quarterback Caden Creel untouched the entire night, allowing him to record his first 300-yard passing game and throw five touchdown passes. Additionally, the group was called for just one penalty on the night.
