Championship Format

New C-USA Championship Format
The 2010 Conference USA Championship will feature the top six teams in regular-season league play. Those six will be split into two three-team pools (or pods), with the winner of each pod playing in a single championship game. Teams would be assigned pods based on seed, which would be determined by the order of finish in regular-season conference play.

Each team will be guaranteed to play three games. Teams in each pod would play two teams in its pod and one team outside its pod. The team with the best composite record in each pod would advance to the championship game. Two-way ties in a pod would be broken by head-to-head play. In case of a three-way tie, the highest seed would advance. The higher seed would be the home team in games on Days 1 and 3 and in the Championship Game; teams that were the visitors on Day 1 would be the home team on Day 2.

2009 Teams (9):	East Carolina, Houston, Marshall, Memphis, Rice, Southern Miss, Tulane, UAB, UCF
Divisions:	One
Scheduling Format:	24 conference games. Eight three-game series. Each school will play one series against another.
2009 Championship:	May 22-24, Hattiesburg, Miss.
Championship Format:	Top eight finishers in regular season standings qualify for double-elimination tournament.
Reg. Season Awards:	Hitter of the Week and Pitcher of the Week. Chosen by the conference office.
Postseason Awards:	Keith LeClair Coach of the Year Award, Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, First and Second Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team. Chosen by each head coach, each Baseball SID and one media member per league city. Announced prior to championship. In addition there will be an All-Academic Team selected by the SIDs.
Championship Awards:	All-Tournament Team (13 players) and Tournament MVP, as selected by the media covering the tournament. The first and second place teams will receive trophies.
