Conference USA is scheduled be a part of the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl for the 10th time in the bowl's 13 years, facing an opponent from the Sun Belt Conference?.This year's game will mark the fourth straight year it has been played on a Saturday, with an 8 pm kickoff scheduled?.East Carolina made its first appearance in the bowl last season, falling to Louisiana-Lafayette?.Southern Miss appeared in the New Orleans Bowl in 2008 and 2009, defeating Troy, 30-27 in the first overtime game in the bowl's history in 2008, before falling to Middle Tennessee the next season. The Golden Eagles also captured back-to-back games in 2005 and 2004, defeating SBC Champions Arkansas State and North Texas, respectively?.Rice represented C-USA in the 2006 game, ending a 45-year bowl drought, losing to Troy?.North Texas, now a member of Conference USA, played in the game four consecutive years as champions of the Sun Belt Conference from 2001-04?.The New Orleans Bowl is played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, home of Tulane University and site of six Super Bowl games.
