Shooting for the Stars: Cultivating Diversity and Inclusion Through Sports

C-USA Shooting for the Stars is dedicated to empowering girls and encouraging them to be active and confident, while finding their voice through sports. It focuses on cultivating diversity and inclusion through community engagement, promoting the benefits of sports participation and inspiring girls of the next generation to fulfill their potential.

Conference USA hosted its first Shooting for the Stars symposium in March in conjunction with the 2020 Conference USA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Performance Center at The Star. The event focused on empowering girls and encouraging them to be active and confident. Speakers, including C-USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod, Nancy Lieberman, Marva Hanks and Tosin Mabodu discussed how sports played a positive role in their lives and life lessons learned through participating in sports. The panel was moderated by local NBC5 Today co-anchor Laura Harris.
