Clifton Douglass joined Conference USA in August of 2015 as Director of Sports Services and was promoted to Assistant Commissioner in July of 2016 and Associate Commissioner for Basketball in December of 2021. Douglass’s responsibilities include oversight of men’s and women's basketball, women’s soccer, and women’s golf.
 
Prior to Joining Conference USA, Douglass spent 14 months at Regions Financial Corporation serving the corporate and middle market commercial banking team in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
Before his brief stint in commercial banking, Clifton spent over three years as the Sports Management Administrator at the Southwestern Athletic Conference where he was responsible for the planning and execution of Conference championships as well as overseeing the conference’s legislative process.
 
He also has experience working event operations at the U.S. Open in Flushing, New York, and as a project assistant at the National Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) in Hattiesburg, Mississippi while completing his Master’s degree in Sports Management from The University of Southern Miss in 2010.
 
A 2008 graduate of Alcorn State University, Douglass was a basketball student-athlete and served as team captain for two years. Douglass was also a captain for the 2005 ACCC State and NJCAA Region 22 championship team at Shelton State Community College and went on to compete in the National Tournament. He is a native of Sylacauga, Alabama.
