Josh Yonis joined Conference USA as director of communications in August 2022 and was elevated to assistant commissioner for strategic communications in July 2024. He serves as the communications contact for both football and softball. Additionally, he oversees all of CUSA's communications efforts as well as the basketball championships. He also serves as the conference's national media contact and works closely with Commissioner's Judy MacLeod on media opportunities to continue to benefit the league and its member institutions.
Yonis comes to the league following a four-year stint at the Southland Conference, starting as an assistant director of communications and reaching the title of senior director of communications. He served as the league’s primary contact for football, men’s basketball, soccer, beach volleyball, men’s and women’s golf and baseball. Yonis also served as the sport liaison to beach volleyball and oversaw the league’s partnership with INFLCR.
A Southlake, Texas, native, Yonis joined the Southland after more than a year as an athletics communications assistant at the University of North Texas, where he served as primary media contact for women’s volleyball, women’s swimming & diving and softball for the Mean Green.
An active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), Yonis currently serves on the organization's Academic All-America and Career Services committees.
He graduated with a bachelor’s in sport management from Southern Methodist University in 2015 and earned his master’s in sport management from Dallas Baptist University in 2017. While at DBU, he served as a graduate assistant and was the primary media contact for men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s golf.
Yonis resides in Lewisville, Texas, with his wife Lauren, son Theo, and dog Revolver.
