UTEP Adds Kevin Perry to 2009 Football Recruiting Class

Feb. 5, 2009

Head Coach Mike Price announced the addition of Kevin Perry to UTEP's 2009 football recruiting class on Thursday.

"Kevin has tremendous physical ability, and he is a very good student," Price said. "He reminds me of Kellen Winslow, who I coached at Missouri. I think he'll be a tight end for us, but he could play defensive end because he likes to hit. We'll just see how it goes. We're really excited about him."

The 6-5, 230-pound Perry currently attends Westbury Christian High School in Houston, and projects as either a tight end or defensive lineman for the Miners. He was a first team TAPPS 4A All-District defensive end and wide receiver as a senior, and was regarded as one of the top 100 recruits in the Houston Area.

Also an accomplished basketball player, Perry is currently averaging 22 points and six rebounds per game. He is rated the 38th-best Texas recruit in the class of 2009 by Hoop Scoop Online and the no. 97 power forward in the country by Scouts, Inc. Perry may play basketball at UTEP in addition to football.
