Sept. 2 Cross Country Athletes of the Week

Irving, Texas - North Texas junior Troy Taylor claims the first Conference USA Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week award following his performance at the Baylor Twilight Invitational this past weekend. On the women's side, UTSA's Stephanie Wangui took the Alamo City Opener title, earning her C-USA Female Athlete of the Week accolades.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
TROY TAYLOR, NORTH TEXAS | JR., RHOME, TEXAS
Taylor won the men's Baylor Twilight Invitational this past weekend with a time of 18:14.5 in the 6K race, beating his time at last year's Twilight Invite (18:55.5) by more than half a minute. This is Taylor's first collegiate individual title. Taylor led the men's team to an overall first-place victory for the second consecutive year at the Twilight Invite.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
STEPHANIE WANGUI, UTSA | SR., LEANDER, TEXAS
Wangui raced to the first individual title of her career as she helped UTSA's six-woman contingent at Friday's Alamo City Opener to a third-place finish. The senior from Leander, Texas, covered the 4,000-meter trail in 14:46.95 to top the field of contestants and paced the Roadrunners at the season-opening meet.
