HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A second swimmer from Palmetto Aquatics in Columbia, S.C. will join the Marshall Swimming & Diving team for the 2016-17 season.
Marshall coach Bill Tramel announced Thursday that Hannah Robins, a senior at AC Flora High School, will join her Palmetto teammate, Catherine Bendziewicz, in Huntington this fall. Both swimmers train under Heath Edwards, an SEC champion at the University of Georgia and one of Tramel's former swimmers.
"This is so perfect to have Hannah join us," said Tramel. "Her excitement to be part of our program is what stood out when we spoke with her. She has a number of events to choose from, so we'll put her where she best contributes."
Robins owns best times of 57.84 in the 100 Butterfly and 24.69 in the 50 Freestyle.
"It's testimony to Heath's coaching talent," Tramel said. "Every year, he sends swimmers, who are still improving, off to Division I programs. We are fortunate to have two in one year. Heath's integrity as a person is something that is ingrained in his swimmers. I know we are not only getting two fast swimmers, but two people of tremendous character as well."
Robins was all-state in South Carolina High School swimming and district Athlete of the Year while an Honor Roll student at AC Flora.
"I am very excited to be a part of the Thundering Herd this fall," Robins said. "The team, coaches, and atmosphere is everything I wanted and much more. I can't wait to see what Marshall University has in store for me."
Robins is the sixth member of Marshall's Swimming & Diving Class of 2020.
