DALLAS – Conference USA announced its beach volleyball all-conference and superlative awards today ahead of the 2022 C-USA Beach Volleyball Championship. No. 10 Florida Atlantic earned three superlative awards in a vote of the league’s seven head coaches. The Owls top pair Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris were named Pair of the Year, while Julie Honzovicova earned Freshman of the Year honors and FAU head coach Capri Grotowski was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

Five of the league’s seven programs are represented on the All-Conference First Team Pairs and All-Freshman Team. This is the first season of beach volleyball in Conference USA.
 
Brok and Morris, both Preseason All-C-USA selections, have achieved a 22-6 record on Court 1 this season, 93-29 career record as a pair. The duo are two-time C-USA Pair of the Week honorees and went 7-0 against Conference USA opponents. Brok and Morris clinched a 20-win season as a pair for the second time in their careers. The pair is the school record holder in career wins as a pair (93) and Court 1 wins (51) and the 22 wins this season is tied for the fifth most in a single season. The duo also earned All-Conference USA First Team honors.

Honzovicova got accustomed to the collegiate beach volleyball season with ease, racking up an 18-9 record as a freshman across Courts 2-3, mainly on Court 3. She accumulated an 18-7 mark on Court 3, with the number being tied for the second most wins on that flight in a single season. She also tied for fifth in most wins on Court 3 in a season for the Owls.
  
At the helm of the program since 2014, Grotowski has led the Sandy Owls to new heights. FAU is the defending CCSA champion and reached its highest national rankings (currently No. 10 in the AVCA) over the last two seasons. The Owls posted a 21-8 record entering the championship, and Grotowski has compiled 126 wins in her career.

Joining Brok and Morris on the All-Conference First Team Pairs are teammates Courtney Moon and Marketa Svozilova, Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary of No. 15 Georgia State, Giada Bianchi and Paige Kalkhoff of No. 13 FIU and UAB’s Rachel Tam and Adriana Pereira.

The coaches also selected an All-Freshman squad.
 
The 2022 C-USA Beach Volleyball Championship commences with five matches Thursday, April 28 at the John Hunt Park Sand Complex in Huntsville, Ala., hosted by C-USA, CCSA, Rally Sports and the Huntsville Sports Commission. Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, FIU, Georgia State, ULM, Southern Miss and UAB will battle it out in the seven-team championship. The matches on Thursday and Friday (April 28-29) will be live streamed on Varsity Sports Now, and the semifinal and championship matches will be played Saturday, April 30, and streamed on ESPN+.
