DALLAS – Georgia State, the Conference USA champion, and Florida Atlantic advanced to the double elimination round of the 2022 NCAA Division I Beach Volleyball Championship.
Tenth-seeded Georgia State defeated No. 7-ranked Grand Canyon in a thriller, 3-2. The No. 14 Panthers will face No. 3 TCU on May 6 at 11 a.m.
The 12th-ranked Sandy Owls made history with their first ever NCAA Division I Championship Tournament appearance and win over ninth-seeded Stanford, 3-0. Eighth seed FAU will play No. 1 Southern California on May 6 at 9 a.m.
The first round of the championship was played May 4 with all 16 participants facing off in a single elimination bracket. The advancing eight teams will compete Friday through Sunday, May 6-8 in a double elimination format. The championship is being played in Gulf Shores, Ala., hosted by the City of Gulf Shores, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Orange Beach Sports and Events. Match coverage is provided by ESPNU.
