HOUSTON – Liberty head football coach Jamey Chadwell was tabbed to the American Heart Association’s 2024 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year Award watch list, announced Wednesday morning. Chadwell is one of 27 college football coaches in consideration for the annual top honor.
 
The reigning CUSA Coach of the Year has led the Flames to an 18-1 mark since taking over in 2023 with a conference title and a Fiesta Bowl appearance in their first year in the league. Chadwell looks to guide the Flames to back-to-back CUSA championships after their 5-0 start to 2024. He is one of six non-Power 4 coaches included on the watch list.
 
The award, given each January to a college football coach, recognizes contributions that make the sport better for athletes and fans alike by demonstrating grit, integrity and a winning approach to coaching and life – both on and off the field. The Coach of the Year award winner will be announced live from Houston’s Post Oak Hotel on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, during an awards ceremony presented by Marathon Oil.
