VB: October 21 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Liberty’s Kate Gammer, New Mexico State’s Kacia Brown, along with WKU’s Callie Bauer and Alivia Skidmore earned Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Week honors.

CUSA Offensive Player of the Week – Kate Gammer, Liberty - Sr. – Encinitas, Calif.
Gammer had an impressive week recording 40 kills (5.91 kps) hitting .296 and averaging 0.43 aces, 4.14 digs and 0.86 blocks per set during a 1-1 weekend against Middle Tennessee. Gammer ran her double-digit kills streak to a career-best nine matches while posting back-to-back double-doubles this weekend. On Friday, Gammer scored 14 kills at a .229 pace, adding one ace, 10 digs and three block assists in a 3-0 setback. Saturday's 3-1 win over MTSU, Gammer scored a career-high 26 kills, hitting .333 while adding two aces, 19 digs and three blocks.  Her 26 kills were the most by any CUSA player in a four-set match so far this season and the most by any Liberty player in a match in Liberty Arena history. The senior outside hitter is now second in CUSA in kills per set (3.91) and points per set (4.53) in conference matches. 
 
CUSA Defensive Player of the Week – Kacia Brown, NM State – R-Sr. – Waterloo, Iowa
A remarkable month-long stretch for Brown rolled on over the weekend as the Aggies swept FIU 2-0 at home. The redshirt senior tallied 11 blocks in two sets, notching 1.83 per set. The Waterloo, Iowa, native added two solo blocks on Friday, increasing her team-high mark to 10 so far in 2024. Brown also poured in a total of eight digs, four kills and two assists.
 
CUSA Setter of the Week – Callie Bauer, WKU – R-Jr. – Hudson, Mich.
Bauer set the tone for the Hilltoppers offense over the weekend in their 2-0 sweep against Louisiana Tech. She tallied 85 assists, averaging 14.17 assists per set. Overall, the redshirt junior setter also chipped in 17 digs, seven kills and four service aces.
 
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Alivia Skidmore, WKU – Florence, Ky.
Skidmore dominated the net this weekend for the Hilltoppers, collecting a total of 28 kills on 40 attempts. Committing only two hitting errors, Skidmore posted a .650 hitting clip. The Florence, Kentucky, native also added eight digs, one block and 29.5 points on the week.
