FB: Jax State’s Clay Webb Named Second Team FWAA All-America

DALLAS – Jax State offensive lineman Clay Webb was tabbed to the FWAA All-America Second Team, announced by the organization Tuesday. It marks the second consecutive season with Second Team All-America honors for the Gamecocks’ guard.

A First Team All-CUSA selection, Webb started every game at left guard and paved the way for a historic Jax State offense that ranks second in FBS in rushing (267.3). The Gamecocks also lead CUSA and rank in the top 35 nationally in sacks allowed (1.38) and tackles for loss allowed (4.08). The Oxford, Ala., native has committed just five career penalties in more than 2,200 snaps.

His work in the trenches helped the Gamecocks become the first team in FBS history to have a quarterback and running back each rush for more than 1,300 yards and 14 TD in a single season. Jax State leads the FBS with 48 rushing touchdowns, which are second most in a season in CUSA history. The Gamecocks’ 3,475 yards are fifth most in a season in CUSA history.
