2023-24 CUSA WBB Postseason Awards (PDF)
DALLAS – Conference USA has announced its postseason Women’s Basketball All-Conference, All-Freshman, All-Defensive Teams along with the Superlative Awards (Newcomer, Sixth Player, Defensive, Freshman, Player and Coach). The CUSA awards are voted on by the league’s coaches, sports information directors and a media representative from each school.
MTSU’s
Savannah Wheeler became the third Lady Raider to be named CUSA Player of the Year, joining Anastasia Hayes in 2019 and Ebony Rowe in 2014. Liberty’s
Asia Boone, who won nine Freshman of the Week awards this season, is the league’s Freshman of the Year. FIU’s
Jesyka Burks-Wiley claims her second Coach of the Year honors.
Wheeler led the league in scoring (18.7), assists per game (5.7) and minutes per game (38.6) during league action. The senior guard also ranked second in assist/turnover ratio (2.5) and scored in double-figures in all but five games all year. Wheeler became the all-time conference leader in free throws made and now ranks third on the all-time scoring list.
Boone is tabbed as the league’s Freshman of the Year after earning nine weekly honors in her rookie campaign. The San Diego native ranks sixth among all CUSA players this year in triples while leading all freshman in points (9.9), three-pointers (32) and steals (13). Boone put together her best performance at UTEP as she compiled a career-high 25 points and six made triples.
Burks-Wiley guided the Panthers to one of the finest seasons in program history. FIU reached 20 wins overall, 11 wins in league play and clinched the highest seed entering the CUSA Championship at No. 3 after being picked to finish seventh in the preseason coaches’ poll. The Panthers were red hot entering league play winning 11 of 12 games including a program-best 5-0 start to CUSA action.
MTSU’s
Anastasiia Boldyreva was named the Defensive Player of the Year, making her the first Lady Raider to bring home this honor. Boldyreva has established herself as one of the top bigs in Conference USA and Lady Raider history. The center from Moscow has played a crucial role in the Lady Raiders having the top scoring defense in CUSA (51.8). On the season, Boldyreva is fourth nationally in total blocks (88) and blocks per game (2.93).
FIU’s
Mya Kone picked up the Sixth Player of the Year award after leading the Panthers in scoring (11.3) while coming off the bench in 19 games. During league play, Kone came off the bench in 13 contests and was first on the squad in rebounds (8.8), first in blocks (17) and second in scoring (11.8). The sophomore guard recorded a career-high in points (25) against Jax State and a career-high in rebounds (18) versus LA Tech.
UTEP’s Jane Asinde, a Wichita State transfer, garnered Newcomer of the Year honors in a sensational first year with the Miners. During Conference USA play, Asinde ranked second in the league in scoring (17.2), second in rebounding (9.6) and third in field goal percentage (.505). The senior forward tallied a career-high effort with 28 points at FIU and a career-high in rebounds (16) at Jax State. Asinde also leads the league with the most double-doubles (12).

Erin Wilson, and WKU’s
Alexis Mead.
The five honorees for the All-Defensive Team were FIU’s Hayes, Liberty’s Smuda, MTSU’s Boldyreva, UTEP’s Asinde and WKU’s Mead.
