FB: Jax State's Clay Webb Earns First Team Walter Camp Preseason All-America Honors

DALLAS – Jax State offensive lineman Clay Webb was named to the 2024 Walter Camp Preseason All-America First Team, as announced Monday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

The Gamecocks’ starting left guard earned Second Team All-America recognition from Walter Camp last fall after paving the way for the third-best rushing offense in the FBS (236.7 YPG). Webb also anchored an offensive line that tied for 19th nationally in sacks allowed per game (1.23).

Jax State produced at least 140 yards rushing in all but one game in 2023, including eight games over 200 yards and a CUSA-record 522 rushing yards versus LA Tech on Nov. 18. The Gamecocks tallied 35 rushing touchdowns on the year, which ranked sixth among FBS institutions.

The Gamecocks’ (9-4, 6-2 CUSA) debut season in Conference USA culminated in a 34-31 overtime victory over Louisiana in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. JSU ran for 290 yards and three scores on the ground in the win.
