FB: November 24 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Conference USA announced Monday its weekly award winners for week 13. The weekly awards are voted on by a panel of the league’s media.

Offensive Player of the Week – Amari Odom, Kennesaw State – R-So. – QB – Inglewood, Calif.
Odom rewrote the Kennesaw State (8-3, 6-1 CUSA) record book en route to winning a shootout, 41-34, over Missouri State to finish a perfect 6-0 at home. He set program records for passing yards (387), total offense (419), passing touchdowns (5) and touchdowns responsible for (6), including the 14-yard game-winner with 27 seconds left to Chase Belcher. Odom helped lead KSU to back-to-back games with 500 yards of offense for the first time since 2019. He is one of only three FBS quarterbacks this season to record 350 passing yards, five passing TD’s, one rushing TD and amass more than 400 yards of offense overall in a single game, joining Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia and Syracuse’s Steve Angeli.

Defensive Player of the Week – Jakari Foster, LA Tech – R-Sr. – S – Piedmont, Ala.
Foster came up with two critical interceptions in LA Tech’s 34-28 OT win over Liberty on Saturday and added eight tackles. His two picks were among four recorded by Tech safeties. His first came late in the third quarter with the Bulldogs (6-5, 4-3 CUSA) down 28-14 and Liberty driving. Foster intercepted a pass at Tech’s four-yard line, setting up a 96-yard scoring drive that made it 28-21. His second interception was the biggest of the night, as he picked off Ethan Vasko’s pass in the end zone on Liberty’s first overtime possession. Tech scored on the first play of its overtime drive to secure the 34-28 win. The redshirt senior leads the nation with six interceptions.

Special Teams Player of the Week – David Barker, NM State – Fr. – K – Brisbane, Australia
Barker finished the day a perfect 2-2 on field goal attempts and 4-4 on PATs in a 34-31 Battle of I-10 victory over rival UTEP, including making a season-long 46-yarder to give the Aggies (4-7, 2-5 CUSA) their first lead of the game late in the third quarter. His 46-yard field goal was the longest made by any CUSA kicker in Week 13. Barker’s two field goals and 12 total points both tied for the most by a CUSA kicker this past week.

Freshman of the Week – Clayton Coppock, Kennesaw State – Fr. – WR – Atlanta, Ga.
Coppock turned in a key performance in the 41-34 win over Missouri State with career highs in receiving yards (87) and touchdowns (2) while failing to record a drop. He has now caught a touchdown pass in three-straight games. Coppock is one of only 13 freshmen wideouts nationally to haul in two scores and 80 receiving yards in a single game and one of only two in CUSA (UTEP’s Wondame Davis, Jr. – Sept. 20).

Offensive Lineman of the Week – Chad Staley, FIU – Sr. – LT – Tampa, Fla.
In addition to his work in the trenches, Staley hauled in a one-yard receiving touchdown, becoming the first offensive lineman to score a receiving touchdown in program history. He played an integral part on the line as FIU (6-5, 4-3 CUSA) racked up 202 rushing yards in a 27-21 upset of Jax State to clinch bowl eligibility for the first time since 2019. In 16 offensive snaps, he recorded the top PFF offensive grade of any Panther offensive lineman (79.5) and the third-highest run block grade (74.1).
