FORT WORTH, Texas – Following a school-record laden performance last Saturday, Kennesaw State’s
Amari Odom has been named the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week, announced Thursday by the Davey O’Brien Foundation. He becomes the first Conference USA quarterback to earn the weekly honor.
During the Owls’ 41-34 victory over Missouri State, Odom established new program records for passing yards (387), total offense (419), passing touchdowns (5) and touchdowns responsible for (6). For the day, Odom connected on 24-34 passes, including the 14-yard game-winning touchdown toss with 27 seconds left.
Odom became the third FBS quarterback this season and just the 16th since 2020 to record 350 passing yards, 400 yards of offense, five passing TDs and one rushing TD in a single game. He was also named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.4 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.
