INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in the two years, Conference USA will be represented by two teams in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). MTSU was awarded a No. 4 seed and will host Chattanooga, while Jax State will travel to Atlanta to face No. 4 Georgia Tech.
The Blue Raiders (22-11) will host SoCon regular-season champion Chattanooga (24-9) at 7 p.m. CT Tuesday at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on
ESPN+. The Gamecocks (22-12) are set to travel to Atlanta to take on ACC foe Georgia Tech (17-16) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT on
ESPN2.
MTSU earned its first postseason berth since the 2021-22 campaign and its fifth appearance in the NIT. The Blue Raiders are led by CUSA Newcomer of the Year and first-team honoree
Essam Mostafa and second-team member
Jestin Porter.
Jax State will appear in the NIT for the first time in the program’s history after falling short in the CUSA Championship title game on Saturday. CUSA Player of the Year
Jaron Pierre Jr. ranks fourth nationally in scoring with 21.5 points per game and was a member of the CUSA All-Tournament Team.
The NIT, a 32-team postseason event, will be played March 18-19 (first-round), March 22-23 (second-round) and March 25-26 (quarterfinals), with the highest-seeded teams hosting games at campus sites. The NIT semifinals and final will be played at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., on April 1 and April 3.
