ITF: Kennesaw State Men, Liberty Women Take 2025 CUSA Indoor Track & Field Titles

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Kennesaw State men claimed the men’s Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championship title in their first year in the conference, while Liberty claimed their second women’s title Saturday night at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track Complex.
 
Earning women’s runner-up recognition, Kennesaw State earned 117 points. FIU earned the third-place spot for the women with 89 points. Receiving men’s runner-up recognition, Liberty earned 139.5 points, just 14.5 points behind KSU. Middle Tennessee took the men’s third-place position.

Liberty secured the top three spots in the heptathlon with Hunter Bleam receiving third, Daniel Van Duren taking second, and Gabriel Willis earning first. 
 
The first medals of the day were swept by three freshman high jumpers from FIU. Gabrielle Flores and Amaya Bien-Aime earned third and second place, while Luca Keszthelyi captured the No. 1 position.
 
The field events were highlighted by New Mexico State’s Rebecca Green taking first in women’s shot put, while breaking the facility record. Kennesaw State had key field competitors in Justin Campbell taking first in men’s triple jump and Evan Martinez taking first in men’s shot put.
 
The track events featured five new meet or facility records. UTEP’s Jordani Woodley and LA Tech’s Oscar Smith broke the meet record in the men’s 60-meter hurdles, however, Woodley earned the title (7.69), making him the new meet record holder. Kennesaw’s Chance Cross also earned the meet and facility record in the men’s 60-meter dash. In the women’s 800-meter run, MTSU’s Privillege Chikara and Liberty’s Kate Goodyear broke the meet record, but KSU’s Emma Sullivan came out on top as the new meet record holder, with a time of 2:03.84. UTEP’s Niesha Burgher crushed the meet and facility record for the women’s 200-meter, clocking a time of 22.73.
 
Sam Houston’s Jayden Jones won the men’s 200-meter for the second year in a row. KSU’s Collins KipKemboi took the men’s 3000-meter title, while Adelyn Fairley of Liberty won the women’s 3000-meter run.
 
To cap the night off, Louisiana Tech’s swept the 4x400 relay titles for men and women. The men clocked a time of 3:11.03, while the women recorded a time of 3:37.63, breaking the facility record.
 
The championship ended with MTSU’s Mackdonald Songok and Liberty’s Allie Zealand earning Male & Female Freshman of the Meet. The Highest Point Scorer of the Meet award went to Brian Kiptoo of Middle Tennessee for the men and Niesha Burgher of UTEP for the women.
 
CUSA Indoor Track & Field will return to action for the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships on March 14-15 at Virginia Beach Sports Center, hosted by Norfolk State.
