Kenyatta Bennett have earned Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Omari Lewis – Liberty – JR. – Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago
With a time of 10.07 seconds, Lewis finished in second place in the men’s 100-meter dash at the East Coast Relays. His time in the 100 was the fastest wind-legal time ever posted by a Liberty runner and left him one hundredth of a second behind the first-place winner and NCAA men’s 100 leader, South Florida’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu. In the men’s 100, Lewis ranks first in CUSA and seventh in the nation.
Women’s Track Athletes of the Week – UTEP’s 4x100-meter Relay Team – El Paso, Texas

Rejoice Sule clocked in a CUSA-best and school-record time of 43.72 seconds at Arizona’s Desert Heat Classic. The Miners were first out of 11 teams, beating Oregon (43.87), Utah (44.02) and Arizona (44.17). The previous school record was 43.95 in 2008. The Miners rank fourth in the NCAA West Region and 24th nationally.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Jakub Belik – UTEP – SR. – Jaromer, Czech Republic
Belik, Conference USA’s leading men’s high jumper, finished second in the high jump at 2.11 meters (6-11) at Arizona’s Desert Heat Classic on Saturday. The senior Miner is tied for ninth in the NCAA West Region and tied for 15th in the NCAA.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Michaelle Valentin – FIU – SR. – Apopka, Fla.
Earning her third conference weekly honor of the outdoor season, Valentin won the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 63.45 meters at the UNF East Coast Relays. She also finished second in discus with a mark of 57.26 meters. In Conference USA, Valentin ranks first in hammer and discus. The senior also ranks 10th in hammer and fourth in discus in the country.
Men’s Freshman of the Week – Kenyatta Bennett – KSU – FR. – Atlanta, Ga.
Bennett cleared a personal-best height of 2.11m (6’11) to win the high jump at the Big Orange Invite. The freshman Owl ranks second in CUSA and 34th in the East Region.
Women’s Freshman of the Week – Amaya Bien-Aime – FIU – FR. – Orlando, Fla.
Bien-Aime finished second in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.78 meters at the East Coast Relays. She finished above competition from Miami and Georgia Tech and her mark ranks 41st-best in the NCAA. The freshman from Orlando, Fla., also ranks first in women’s high jump in CUSA.
