CUSA Offensive Player of the Week – Paige Overcash, Liberty – So. – RS – Ashe County, N.C.
Overcash continued to produce at an impressive clip in a Power Four environment, averaging a team-high 3.67 kills per set at a .410 pace as Liberty went 2-1 at the West Virginia Invitational. On Thursday, she scored a career-high 21 kills in a 3-2 win over Coppin State, hitting .436 for the match. Overcash scored 14 kills at a .267 pace against West Virginia on Friday. Then on Saturday, she tied for the team lead with nine kills, hitting an outstanding .643 in the 3-0 Liberty sweep.
CUSA Defensive Player of the Week – Luci Wilkinson, Jax State – Sr. – L – Fairhope, Ala.
Wilkinson helped Jax State to a 2-1 weekend in the Chattanooga Classic this weekend, with the only loss coming to Big 12 foe Cincinnati on Friday. Wilkinson was incredible in the backrow against Cincinnati, Ohio, and Chattanooga with a total of 62 digs. She ended the weekend with an amazing 32-dig performance in a five-set win over Ohio on Saturday. She also added 10 assists and two service aces on the weekend.
CUSA Setter of the Week – Kalia Kohler, UTEP – Jr. – Alpine, Utah
Kohler directed UTEP’s offense with consistency and poise in the Miners’ title-winning weekend at the Southwest Showdown. The junior setter ran the offense across 10 sets, posting 76 assists (7.6 per set) and guiding the team to an impressive .303 hitting percentage. Kohler accounted for over half of UTEP’s total assists (76-of-139) and contributed in all facets with four service aces, three kills, and a flawless weekend behind the service line. Her steady play shined brightest in the championship match, where she was named Player of the Match in the Miners’ 3-1 win over Texas State.
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Peyton McKee, Missouri State – OH – Montgomery, Texas
McKee earned MVP honors at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational after helping the Bears claim the championship of their annual home tournament. She averaged 3.91 kills, 0.55 blocks, 0.73 digs and 4.27 points per set with a .391 attack efficiency on the outside. McKee opened the tournament Thursday with 13 kills on .310 hitting percentage and three blocks against Lindenwood. On Friday, McKee hit a blistering .500 with 19 kills versus UTSA, adding two digs and two blocks. The native of Montgomery, Texas, wrapped up the weekend hitting .435 with 11 kills in three sets against DePaul.
