OTF: April 28 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – Liberty swept Conference USA’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Men's Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week – Tahj Brown, Liberty – Fr. – Nassau, Bahamas
Brown clocked a Liberty freshman-record time of 13.81 to qualify for the Penn Relays men's 110 hurdles final. That time ranks No. 3 in CUSA (first among freshmen) and tied for No. 47 nationally. He now sits No. 3 all-time at Liberty.
 
Women's Track Athlete of the Week – Allie Zealand, Liberty – So. – Forest, Va.
Competing in her first-ever track 5K, Zealand captured the Penn Relays title in a record-breaking time of 15:26.38, defeating the reigning ACC indoor 5k champion, Imogen Gardiner of Boston College. It broke the Penn Relays 5K record that had stood since 1984 and shattered the Liberty record that had stood since 2016. Zealand's time is the fastest by a CUSA runner by 52 seconds this season and ranks No. 11 nationally.
 
Men's Field Athlete of the Week – Gilles Ouedraogo, Liberty – Jr. – Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Making his outdoor season debut, Ouedraogo won the Penn Relays men's triple jump championship section title with a wind-legal leap of 15.96 meters (52-4.5) in adverse conditions. It broke the Liberty record that had stood since 2010 and was the longest outdoor jump by a CUSA athlete since 2023. He is now tied for No. 19 nationally this season.
 
Women's Field Athlete of the Week – Sophie Gonzalez, Liberty – R-So. – Guatemala City, Guatemala
Gonzalez was the runner-up in the Penn Relays women's hammer championship section with a top mark of 60.85 meters (199-7). This is her second Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honor in a row.
 
Women's Freshman of the Week – Isabella Frattura, Liberty – Fr. – Sparta, N.J.
To earn her third Outdoor Freshman of the Week honor, Frattura placed third overall (first among freshmen) in the Penn Relays women's javelin championship section with a top mark of 47.66 meters (156-4).
