Ainsley Leja earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.
Offensive Player of the Week – Anabel Orozco, KSU – Sr. – Fayetteville, Ga.
Orozco earns her first Offensive Player of the Week after totaling three goals and six points across Kennesaw State’s (3-3-3) two matches last week. The senior midfielder recorded a brace in the Owls’ 2-1 road win over Presbyterian, scoring twice in a span of just one minute and 57 seconds. Orozco followed with an 89
th-minute equalizer against West Georgia to preserve KSU’s unbeaten streak. She has now contributed to five goals over her last three matches with four goals and an assist. She currently leads CUSA in shots (32), shots on goal (20) and points per game (1.38).
Defensive Player of the Week – Madeline Oliver, FIU – Fr. – Manchester, England.
Oliver earns Defensive Player of the Week recognition after helping lead FIU (3-3-3) to a pair of shutout victories over Stetson and Jacksonville. The freshman center back played all 180 minutes as the Panthers held both opponents without a shot on goal and allowed just 13 total shots across the two matches. Oliver also made an impact offensively, scoring her second goal of the season in FIU’s 3-0 win over Stetson, which proved to be the first game-winning goal of her career.
Goalkeeper of the Week – Ainsley Leja, Liberty – 6th Yr – Rockford, Mich.
Leja earns Goalkeeper of the Week honors after helping Liberty (7-2-1) to a 2-0 week with 118 minutes of shutout play in wins over James Madison and Old Dominion. The sixth-year goalkeeper made six saves across 90 minutes in a 1-0 victory over James Madison to record her third shutout of the season. Leja then came off the bench on Senior Day against Old Dominion and made one save over the final 28 minutes to help secure a 2-1 victory. She finished the week with seven saves, a 1.000 save percentage and improved her record to 5-1-1 on the season.
