C-USA Hall of Fame Spotlight: Russell D. Anderson

DALLAS – Conference USA is honoring its 2021 Hall of Fame selection, the late Russell D. Anderson, during the final weeks of the football season. The longtime assistant commissioner and dedicated member of the C-USA staff for more than 25 years passed away suddenly in April. He was announced as the lone inductee of the league's third Hall of Fame class in July.

In recognition of his induction into the Hall of Fame and his contributions to C-USA football in particular, he will be celebrated in several ways. Helmet stickers with a RDA/C-USA graphic in the black and gold Hall of Fame color palette will adorn the back of the helmets during the league's slate of games on November 19 and 20. In addition, a seat in each of the home team's press boxes with his name and credential will be reserved. Teams participating in the Ryan C-USA Football Championship on December 3 will also wear the RDA HOF helmet sticker. A dedicated press box seat will be reserved in Anderson's honor at the football championship game.

Anderson promoted Conference USA since its formation in 1995, primarily working as media relations contact for the league’s football and baseball programs. In addition to media relations responsibilities, Anderson worked with baseball and football scheduling, officiating, served as a liaison to the football and baseball coaches and was a member of the C-USA Hall of Fame Committee. Among the staff, Anderson was affectionately known as a walking encyclopedia of Conference USA facts, figures and history. C-USA, along with Anderson's family, established the Russell D. Anderson Memorial Fund to support development and opportunities for those pursuing careers in sports communications.
