DALLAS – In the first week of the Conference USA spring golf campaign, four performances stood out. Charlotte’s Carson Ownbey and Ben Woodruff share the Men's Golfer of the Week title after both finishing in the Top 20 out of 75 competitors at the Sea Best Invitational. FIU’s Carolina Andrade is named Women’s Co-Golfer of the Week, boasting a first-place finish in individual stroke play followed by two match play victories at the Battle at Old South. UTSA’s Camryn Carreon earns a share of the Women’s Golfer of the Week award after finishing T-11 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in a field that featured 16 golfers ranked in the top-100 individuals. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
C-USA Men's Co-Golfer of the Week – Carson Ownbey, Charlotte, Jr., Chandler, N.C.
Carson Ownbey recorded five birdies on his way to a T20th place finish at the Sea Best Invitational. Ownbey posted scores of 73-76-72=221 to finish in the Top 20 of 75 individuals and aid his team to a sixth-place finish.
C-USA Men's Co-Golfer of the Week – Ben Woodruff, Charlotte, Jr., Huntersville, N.C.
Ben Woodruff also fired a tournament total of 221 to lead the Niners to a sixth-place finish at the season-opening Sea Best Invitational. Woodruff carded five birdies in his three rounds, posting a score of 71-75-75 and placing him tied for 20th in the 75-player field.
C-USA Women's Co-Golfer of the Week – Carolina Andrade, FIU, Sr., Bogota, Columbia
In the first event of the season, Carolina Andrade topped the individual stroke play leaderboard with an opening round of 71, 1-under par, leading FIU to a bye in the opening round of match play. In the second round of match play, Andrade won her match 3&2, helping FIU sweep Jacksonville 5-0. Despite the Panthers falling in the Championship match to Coastal Carolina, Andrade won her final match.
C-USA Women's Co-Golfer of the Week – Camryn Carreon, UTSA, So., San Antonio, Texas
Camryn Carreon carded a 6-over-par 222 to finish in a tie for 11th place at the season-opening Trinity Forest Invitational, which featured seven teams ranked in the top-50 and 16 individuals ranked in the top-100. After opening with a 76 in the first round, she improved each of her next two rounds by two strokes to move into a share of 11th in the 74-player field. The San Antonio native carded a 74 in the second round and an even-par 72 that featured six birdies in the final round, which tied for the third-best total in the field.
