CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OCTAVIA JETT-WILSON, CHARLOTTE
SENIOR, G, 5-8, GREENBELT, MD
Jett-Wilson was back on a scoring tear again this weekend, averaging 29.5 points including a career-best tying 42 points to set the Halton Arena scoring record in her final game inside the venue. She topped the previous arena record of 35 and equaled her career high that she set recently at Old Dominion, becoming only the second player in school history with multiple 40-plus scoring games, both in a career and in a season. Jett-Wilson now owns two of the top 10 scoring performances in a C-USA game and she became the first Charlotte player since 2001 with three or more 30+ scoring games in the same season. She set a school standard for most free throws made without a miss by going 14-of-14 at the charity stripe, one of 11 single-game performances in program history with 10 or more free throws made without a miss. Jett-Wilson opened the weekend with a team-best 17 points and extended her double-digit scoring streak to 10 with the back-to-back games. She also averaged 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks in the two contests with the Owls.
AMARI YOUNG, OLD DOMINION
JUNIOR, F, 5-11, NORTH AUGUSTA, GA
Young led Old Dominion to a pair of wins over WKU by averaging 12.0 points and 17.0 rebounds, making the Monarchs the only team to sweep over the final weekend of the regular season. She put together an impressive 34 rebounds in two games, highlighted by 24 on Friday night, matching her career-high. Those 24 rebounds tie for the second-most in a C-USA league game. Young drained back-to-back free throws in the final 25 seconds of play on Friday to help solidify ODU’s win over the Lady Toppers. She recorded her eighth double-double of the season in Friday’s win, finishing with 16 points to go along with the 24 boards. Young packed the stat sheet each night, recording five steals, three steals and four assists over two games.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JACEE BUSICK, CHARLOTTE
FRESHMAN, G, 6-1, KERNERSVILLE, NC
Busick concluded the regular season by averaging 9.0 points and 4.5 rebounds as the 49ers split their series with Florida Atlantic. She opened the weekend with a career-best tying 15 points, including knocking down her only 3-point attempt and converting all four free throws. It marked Busick’s highest point total against a league opponent, as she tallied her fourth conference double-figure scoring game and sixth overall. She secured five rebounds, three offensive, and handed out an assist against the Owls. Busick then drained another triple for her only points in Saturday’s series finale, while grabbing all four of her boards on the defensive glass.
