HOUSTON, Texas – No. 25 Rice, the top seed in the West Division, won its seventh straight game overall as the Owls defeated East No. 4 seed Old Dominion 3-0 in the fourth quarterfinal game of the 2020 C-USA Women's Soccer Championship at Rice's Holloway Field.

With the victory, the Owls (11-2) advance to the semifinal round against West No. 3 seed Southern Miss on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT. Rice is No. 25 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.
Rice scored the game’s first goal in the 22nd minute as
Madison Kent got her fifth goal of the season when she played a rebound off the Old Dominion goalkeeper. In the 29th minute, C-USA Goalkeeper of the Year
Bella Killgore of Rice showed off her offensive specialty as she took a free kick just outside of the 18-yard box and scored her fourth goal of the season for a 2-0 Owls advantage.
In the second half, Rice’s
Mijke Roelfsema, the 2020 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year, scored off a corner kick in the 63rd minute to extend the Owls lead to 3-0.
ODU (4-5-2) out-shot the Owls, 21-15, but Rice had a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal. Killgore had eight saves, and Old Dominion goalkeeper
Kasey Perry stopped seven shots.
After a day off, the four semifinal teams will play on Thursday. Charlotte, the East No. 3 seed will take on No. 1 East seed WKU at 4:30 p.m. CT before Southern Miss and Rice play the nightcap at 7 p.m.
The semifinal winners will meet for the C-USA championship and the NCAA Tournament automatic bid Saturday at 12 p.m. CT. All games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
