Golf: October 26 C-USA Golfers of the Week

DALLAS - Conference USA announced Wednesday its weekly honors for golf. UTSA's Camryn Carreon secured her first C-USA Women's Golfer of the Week honor of the season after posting a top-10 finish at the Jim West Challenge. On the men’s side, Rice’s Henry Daly finished in 13th place to help lead Rice to a fourth place team finish at The Clerico to earn his first C-USA Men’s Golfer of the Week recognition. The 2022-23 C-USA Athletes of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

C-USA Women’s Golfer of the Week – Camryn Carreon, UTSA, Sr., San Antonio, Texas
Carreon posted her 10th career top-10 finish to lead UTSA at the Jim West Challenge this week in San Marcos. On the final day, the senior matched her collegiate-best score with a 5-under-par 67 that featured seven birdies, tying the second-lowest round in program history in the process. The San Antonio native moved up 16 places in the individual standings during the final round, ending up with a share of eighth place for her second top 10 of the fall slate.

C-USA Men’s Golfer of the Week – Henry Daly, Rice, Fr., Windsor, Berkshire, England
Daly finished in 13th-place to lead Rice to a fourth-place finish at the rain-shortened Clerico. Daly opened the tournament with a 76. After rain washed away the second round, he closed with a one-under par 70 to help the Owls move up four spots. He became the first Owl with four straight top-20 finishes to open the season since Jade Scott had six in 2009-10.
