MGOLF: Middle Tennessee Climbs on Day Two of C-USA Championships

TEXARKANA, Arkansas - Middle Tennessee climbed atop the team and individual leaderboards in the second round of stroke play on Tuesday at Texarkana Country Club. The Blue Raiders take a three-stroke lead into the third and final round of stroke play at +4, and the top three spots of the individual leaderboard belong to Blue Raiders Owen Stamper (-1), Gavin Clements (E) and Kevin Jegers (+1).

Middle shot a collective -1 on the day, which was tied for the third-best team round (along with second place Louisiana Tech). Rice shot the best team round of the day, -4, improving on their round one score by 26 strokes, while Charlotte climbed into a second place tie with the Bulldogs after shooting -3 on Tuesday.

The top-four team finishers after Wednesday's third round of stroke play will book their tickets to Thursday's match play semifinals.

Twelve players shot under par on Tuesday, including three who shot a round-best 69 - Jegers, North Texas' Lenny Bergsson and Rice's Jay Kirchdorfer. The 12 players quadrupled Monday's under-par output, as the field at large had a much better day on the course on Tuesday.

The 50-player, 10-team field is set to tee off again Wednesday morning beginning at 8 a.m. CT, and fans can follow along live via GolfStat.
