DALLAS – Following standout performances this week, DBU DH Ethan Mann and Rice RHP Parker Smith earned C-USA weekly honors. The 2023 C-USA Players of the Week are presented by Blenders Eyewear.
 
Hitter of the Week – Ethan Mann, DBU – Jr. – DH – McKinney, Texas
Mann shined at the plate in DBU’s 3-1 week including a shutout win over No. 13 Oklahoma State. The junior designated hitter hit .467 (7-for-15) with four home runs, 12 RBI, six runs and an astonishing 1.333 slugging percentage. In DBU’s 8-0 win over Oklahoma State, Mann went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and five RBI. In the rubber match versus Louisiana Tech, he launched three home runs as part of a four-hit day with six RBI.
 
Pitcher of the Week – Parker Smith, Rice – So. – RHP – Houston, Texas
Smith made his seventh start of the season on Friday at Florida Atlantic and nearly went the distance in a 1-0 Rice victory. The right-hander tossed a career-high 8.2 innings and nine punchouts while scattering seven hits and allowing no runs and no walks. Smith finished his day with 114 pitches with 81 of them for strikes and was the longest outing by a Rice pitcher since Matt Canterino threw a complete game against FIU on April 5, 2019. Smith’s 1.73 ERA ranks as the second-lowest in C-USA and is 18^th nationally.
