KENNESAW, Ga. – No. 1 Jax State run ruled No. 2 Liberty to take the 2026 CUSA Baseball Championship from Mickey Dunn Stadium at Henssler Financial Field on the campus of Kennesaw State. The Gamecocks are crowned champions of CUSA for the first time in program history and punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Jax State’s first five runs were all scored by home runs. Sam Richardson blasted a solo home run at the bottom of the second, while Caleb Johnson and Brady Thomas both launched homers at the bottom of the third to put the Gamecocks up 5-0. Jax State extended the lead at the bottom of the fifth where Trey King, Grayson Ashe and Cooper Blauser all contributed RBI singles. Richardson’s two-out, two-run homer to center field at the bottom of the seventh secured the win for Jax State.
 
Steven Cash pitched the first 3.2 innings, striking out two on one hit. Jud Files came in relief, tossing 2.2 innings with four strikeouts to earn his second win of the season.
 
Richardson, a redshirt freshman utility player was named the Russell D. Anderson Most Valuable Player after hitting .429 with two walk-off winners and four RBI.
 
Jax State, Liberty and Missouri State will await their regional matchups. The selection show will be aired live on ESNP2 on Monday, May 25 at 11 a.m. CT.
