DALLAS – Liberty’s Zach Cleveland and UTEP’s David Terrell Jr. earned Conference USA Men’s Basketball weekly honors. The 2023-24 CUSA Players of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear and are voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
 
Cleveland grabs his first Player of the Week honor after posting an eye-popping stat line of 20.5 points, 7.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 63.2 percent from the field on a 1-1 roadtrip for the Flames (14-9, 3-5 CUSA).
 
Terrell Jr. earns his second-straight Freshman of the Week title and third of the season after averaging 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game off the bench in a pair of home contests for the Miners (12-10, 3-5 CUSA).
 
Player of the Week – Zach Cleveland, Liberty – Sophomore – Forward – Bloomington, Ind.
Cleveland matched a career high with 23 points on Thursday against NM State and added eight boards, seven assists, three steals (matched career high) and two blocks. He was also 11-13 from the free throw line, with the 11 makes being a career high. Cleveland knocked down 6-10 shots from the field. In Saturday night's 67-65 triumph at UTEP, he tallied 18 points, a team-high seven assists and two blocks. Cleveland shot 6-9 from the field, including the go-ahead bucket to put the Flames ahead for good at 55-54 with 5:59 remaining.
 
Freshman of the Week – David Terrell Jr., UTEP – Freshman – Guard – Dallas, Texas
Terrell Jr. played heavy minutes (26.1 mpg) off the bench in a pair of home games and finished as the top-scoring reserve and fourth overall on the team for the week with 7.0 points per game, aided by going 6-7 at the free-throw line. He registered 10 points in 33 minutes in the 79-71 win against Jax State, using his strong build to earn seven trips to the charity stripe. He added three boards and a steal versus the Gamecocks. On Saturday, Terrell Jr. fought through foul trouble to pitch in four points, three boards, a steal and a block while making 2-3 from the floor.
