WGOLF: Sam Houston Claims 2024 CUSA Championship, NM State’s Emma Bunch Wins Low Medalist Title

MAGNOLIA, Texas – In just its first season as a member of Conference USA, Sam Houston captured the 2024 CUSA Women’s Golf Championship and the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Championship, finishing at -14 for the tournament at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas. New Mexico State’s Emma Bunch took home the individual low medalist crown for the Aggies with a 7-under performance over the three-round event. Bunch finished the spring season winning all five tournaments she played in.

A pair of Bearkats finished in the top-five, earning spots on the All-Tournament Team, as Sam Houston shot a 9-under 279 on Wednesday to pull away with a 14-stroke victory after entering the day ahead by just two. Jennifer Herbst shot a 69 on Wednesday to finish at -6 and in second place. Viera Permata Rosada recorded her first career hole-in-one on No. 11 and shot a tournament-best 66 in the final round to move to -3 for the event and finished in third place.

In addition to Bunch, Herbst and Rosada, a trio of players also landed inside the top-five with a three-way tie for fourth place. New Mexico State’s Alison Gastelum (-2), UTEP’s Andrea Ostos (-2) and WKU’s Catie Craig (-2), who was the defending individual low medalist, each earned All-Tournament Team honors.

New Mexico State concluded the event at even par, following a 291 on Wednesday for a second-place finish. WKU rounded out the top-three after shooting an even-par 288 in the final round to finish at +13.
