MGOLF: WKU’s Fuller Wins Individual Title, Match Play Set for Team Crown

TEXARKANA, Arkansas – WKU’s Luke Fuller captured the 2024 Conference USA individual title with a three-round score of 7-under (209) on Wednesday at Texarkana Country Club. In addition to Fuller's individual crown, the match play semifinal spots were clinched on the team side, as No. 1 seed LA Tech is set to battle No. 4 UTEP, while No. 2 Sam Houston takes on No. 3 Liberty on Thursday morning in the conference semifinals.
 
LA Tech finished the three rounds at -4, while Sam Houston was also under par at -1. Liberty finished +1, while UTEP (+12) held off a late charge by WKU (+15), whom they were paired with, for the fourth and final spot, while Middle Tennessee missed out on match play by just two strokes (+14).

Fuller fired a 2-under 70 in his final round, and sank a short put to clinch the title on No. 18. Isaac MacNaughton of Jax State turned in the best round of the event on Wednesday, with a 5-under 67 to tie for fifth and a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Eight total players earned spots on the All-Tournament team – Fuller, Josh Ryan (Liberty), Niilo Maki-Petaja (LA Tech), Gene Chaikangwal (Sam Houston), MacNaughton, Michael Barnard (Middle Tennessee), Hunter Battles (LA Tech) and Josh German (Sam Houston).
 
The match play semifinals tee off at 8 a.m. CT, as LA Tech takes on UTEP on hole one, while Sam Houston and Liberty tee off on hole 18 at the same time. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
