RUSTON – No. 2 DBU defeated No. 7 NM State 5-3 in game two of the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship on Wednesday afternoon from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University. The Patriots move on to face FIU in the winner’s bracket at 12:30 p.m. CT on Thursday afternoon.
 
The CUSA Pitcher of the Year Ryan Johnson got the nod for DBU going 5.2 innings, allowing three runs and punching out six Aggies.
 
Tyler Schott, Connor Benge and Conner Mackay combined for the final 3.1 out of the Patriot bullpen, allowing just one hit, no runs and a strikeout.
 
Seven different Patriots recorded a base knock as three of the hits went for extra bases.
 
NM State will take on No. 3 WKU in the first of two elimination games tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT.
