BSB: Comeaux’s Career Day Guides No. 1 LA Tech Past No. 8 MTSU

RUSTON – Top-seeded Louisiana Tech defeated No. 8 MTSU 8-2 in game three of the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship on Thursday morning from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University. The Bulldogs and Blue Raiders were forced to finish the top of the ninth inning on Thursday morning due to inclement weather.
 
Bulldog third baseman Grant Comeaux went off for a career-high 4-for-4 effort at the plate. The redshirt freshman ripped a two-out, two-run single in the first inning and then launched a homer over the left field wall in the fourth as apart of another three-run inning.
 
Reed Smith got the start on the hill for Tech, going 6.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits while punching out four. Sam Brodersen fanned five in relief in his two innings of work.
 
LA Tech moves into the winner’s bracket and will face the winner of No. 4 Sam Houston and No. 5 Liberty at 12:30 p.m. CT on Friday.
 
MTSU will play at 9 a.m. CT in an elimination game.
