BSB: No. 3 WKU Knocks Off No. 7 NM State to Stay Alive in the CUSA Championship

RUSTON – No. 3 WKU defeated No. 7 NM State 8-2 to stay alive in the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship on Thursday afternoon from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
 
The Hilltoppers used seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings to break the game open. Austin Haller came up big with a two-out, two-run single in the sixth as he drove in three on the afternoon. Kyle Hayes singled in two more runs just two batters later to make it a 5-1 lead.
 
Five WKU arms combined to shut down the Aggie bats. Cory Bosecker hurled 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and fanning three.
 
The Hilltoppers will meet the loser of No. 2 DBU and No. 6 FIU at 4 p.m. CT on Friday.
 
NM State is the first team to be eliminated and finishes the season with a 25-29 overall record and 10-14 mark in league play.
