BSB: The Flames Cruise to Victory Over Bearkats

RUSTON – No. 5 Liberty defeated No. 4 Sam Houston 9-3 in game four of the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship on Thursday afternoon from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
 
Liberty right-hander Cole Hertzler went a strong 7.2 innings, allowing just one earned run and punching out five on a career-high 120 pitches.
 
Flame right fielder Camden Troyer homered twice and drove in seven of the nine runs in a 3-for-4 performance. His seven RBI ties the CUSA Championship single game record and last occurred in the 2010 championship by Rice’s Steven Sultzbaugh.
 
Liberty moves into the winner’s bracket to face top-seeded LA Tech at 12:30 p.m. CT on Friday.
 
Sam Houston will meet MTSU in an elimination game on Friday at 9 a.m. CT.
