RUSTON – No. 1 LA Tech defeated No. 4 Sam Houston 5-3 to move into semifinals on Saturday in the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship on Friday night from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.

Dalton Davis stole the show in the Love Shack on Friday night. Davis went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI. The Bulldog first baseman gave Tech the lead in the third with a two-run shot and then broke the tie in the seventh with a solo shot to make it a 4-3 lead.
Sam Brodersen earned the win in relief, giving the Bulldogs 3.1 shutout frames of one hit ball. Ethan Bates took the ball from Brodersen in the eighth and tallied the final five outs, earning his nation-leading 16
th save of the season.
LA Tech will face No. 5 Liberty in the semifinals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs must defeat the Flames twice to earn a spot in the championship final on Sunday.
The Bearkats’ season comes to an end with a 34-24 overall record and a 13-11 mark in league play.
