BSB: No. 4 Sam Houston Tosses Shutout, Eliminates No. 8 MTSU

RUSTON – No. 4 Sam Houston defeated No. 8 MTSU 2-0 to stay alive in the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship on Friday morning from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
 
Bearkat left-hander Michael Watson was stellar on the mound, tossing 7.0 scoreless frames, allowing just five hits, one walk and striking out seven. Chandler David slammed the door in the final two innings to earn his eighth save of the season.
 
Sam Houston right fielder Jeffrey David was responsible for the pair of Bearkat runs. David collected an RBI single in the first and smoked a liner over the center field wall for his sixth home run of the season.
 
The Bearkats will meet the loser of No. 1 LA Tech and No. 5 Liberty at 7:30 p.m. CT tonight in game 10 of the week.
