RUSTON – No. 1 Louisiana Tech defeated No. 5 Liberty 8-7 to advance to force a game 13 in the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
The Bulldogs answered the Flames’ three-run homer in the first as Jorge Corona belted his 16
th long ball of the year to tie the game at 3-3.
Ethan Bates and
Grant Comeaux both ripped RBI doubles in the contest and each finished with a pair of knocks.
Connor Nation improved to 5-0 on the year after tossing 4.0 strong innings out of the Bulldog bullpen. Nation finished with five strikeouts and handed the ball off to Bates to collect his nation-leading 17
th save of the season.
LA Tech and Liberty will face off again at 7:30 p.m. CT in an elimination game. The winner will face No. 2 DBU in the championship title game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
