RUSTON – No. 2 DBU eliminated No. 3 WKU 7-5 to advance into the title game in the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
 
Patriot right fielder Alex Pendergast put on a clinic at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBI and was a triple shy of cycle.
 
Jaron DeBerry gave DBU a solid start and earned his sixth win of the season. The right-hander went 6.0 innings, allowing just three runs and striking out one. Conner Mackay picked up his eighth save of 2024, collected the final four outs.
 
The Patriots secured a spot in the championship final on Sunday for the second time in their two years with the league. They look to claim their first tournament title at 1 p.m. CT tomorrow.
 
WKU’s season comes to an end with a 36-22 overall record and a 15-9 mark in league play.
