RUSTON – No. 1 Louisiana Tech defeated No. 5 Liberty 6-5 in 10 innings to advance into the title game of the 2024 Super 1 Foods CUSA Baseball Championship from J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
Grant Comeaux was the hero, ripping a walk-off single up the middle to send the Bulldogs to the championship title game against the Patriots.
LA Tech trailed 5-2 entering the eighth until
Cole McConnell brought them within two on a RBI single to right.
Jorge Corona followed him up with a two-out, two-run double to knot the score at 5. McConnell and Corona paced the Bulldog offense with three hits a piece.
Nate Crider earned the win giving the Bulldogs 2.0 strong innings in the ninth and 10
th innings. Crider worked his way out of a bases load, no-out jam without allowing a run.
The top-seeded Bulldogs will meet with No. 2-seeded Patriots in the title game on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT on
CBS Sports Network.
