VB: October 13 Players of the Week

DALLAS – FIU’s Kira Givans, Kennesaw State’s Olivia Burrage, WKU’s Callie Bauer and Jax State’s Charlee Solomon earned Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Week honors.

CUSA Offensive Player of the Week – Kira Givans, FIU – Sr. – OH – Sacramento, Calif.
Givans was impressive for FIU (10-8, 4-2 CUSA), as the Panthers completed a weekend sweep of Sam Houston. The senior posted 37 kills on a .347 hitting clip, averaging 5.29 kills per set. She tallied 22 kills, hitting .400 on Friday and added 15 on Saturday. She now has five consecutive games with 10 or more kills. The Sacramento native leads the team in kills with 236, which ranks sixth in CUSA. For the weekend, she also averaged 6.93 points, 1.29 service aces and 1.29 digs per set.
 
CUSA Defensive Player of the Week – Olivia Burrage, Kennesaw State – R-Jr. – MB – Jefferson, Ga.
Burrage was huge on the blocks for the Owls (10-6, 4-2 CUSA) this weekend, averaging 1.44 per set after posting 13 total for the weekend. She led the Owls to a 1-1 split on the road at Liberty. Her 10 blocks in the Owls' 3-2 win on Saturday were a new career-high, and she helped the Owls post 19 total team blocks, which also were the third most in school history in a game. The redshirt junior middle blocker added three blocks in the Owls' contest on Friday against Liberty. She nearly posted a double-double in Saturday’s contest, as she added nine kills. For the weekend, Burrage posted 17 kills, averaging 1.89 kills per set. 
 
CUSA Setter of the Week – Callie Bauer, WKU – R-Sr. – Hudson, Mich.  
Bauer was the complete package this weekend, earning her second consecutive CUSA Setter of the Week honor. Bauer finished the weekend with 66 assists and averaged 11.0 per set while leading the Hilltoppers (15-4, 6-0 CUSA) to a cumulative .431 hitting percentage. She also led WKU to its first match with a .518 hitting percentage on Saturday when the Hilltoppers finished with a .518 [47-3-85]. WKU's three hitting errors is the fewest in a single match since September 21, 2013. On the front row, she gathered a total of six kills on 16 attempts to finish with a .375 hitting percentage. During her time in the back row, she gathered 15 digs and averaged 2.50 per set. She currently ranks second in CUSA in assists per set with 9.22. 
 
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Charlee Solomon– S – Papillion, Neb.  
Solomon has been one of the most productive freshmen in CUSA this year. Jax State's (9-9, 3-3 CUSA) impressive setter is coming off a weekend against Missouri State in which she tallied 100 assists on an average of 11.11 assists per set. The Papillion, Neb., native also added 20 digs on 2.22 digs per set, 11 kills, and a team-high nine service aces. In Friday's 3-2 win against the Bears, Solomon had 56 assists, nine digs, eight kills, five service aces. In Saturday's match, Solomon had 44 assists, 11 digs, four kills and four aces. Solomon leads CUSA with 652 total assists and ranks third with 9.18 assists per set.
