CUSA Offensive Player of the Week – Manu Johnsen, Kennesaw State – Sr. – OH – Copenhagen, Denmark
Johnsen continued her impressive run of play on offense, leading the Owls in kills, points and aces while recording back-to-back double-doubles as KSU recorded a weekend sweep over FIU. For the week, she posted 38 total kills (4.22 kills per set) while hitting .316. She also averaged 2.56 digs per set and added five total blocks and a team-high tying five aces. The senior outside currently leads CUSA in kills and points per set and is second in service aces per set. In Friday's victory, she posted a game-high 17 kills and five aces, while adding 10 digs. Johnsen followed that with a season-high 21 kills to go along with 13 digs and three blocks in the Owls' reverse sweep. CUSA Defensive Player of the Week – Luci Wilkinson, Jax State – Sr. – L – Fairhope, Ala.
Wilkinson helped Jax State to a 2-0 weekend over Middle Tennessee in the Gamecocks' first two home games of the season. Wilkinson anchored the Jax State back row with 43 digs on 4.78 digs per set, 10 assists and five service aces. In Friday’s 3-1 win over the Blue Raiders, Wilkinson and the Gamecocks notched an incredible 19 service aces. In Saturday's 3-2 triumph, Wilkinson had an impressive 25 digs and two aces. The senior libero's 279 total digs are the most for Jax State and the second most in CUSA.
CUSA Setter of the Week – Callie Bauer, WKU – R-Sr. – Hudson, Mich.
Bauer returned to the 5-1 for the first time in over two weeks as she led the Hilltoppers to a .382 hitting percentage that included a season-high single set hitting clip of .581 in the second set of match two against Missouri State. She finished the weekend with 75 assists and averaged 10.71 assists per set. In the front row, she posted two blocks and seven kills, while also collecting 19 digs. She ranks fourth in CUSA in total assists (469) and is second in assists per set (9.02).
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Sonja Laaksonen, WKU – OH – Victoria, Minn.
Laaksonen helped the Hilltoppers to their second sweep of conference play over the Missouri State Bears with 16 kills, a .447 hitting percentage and averaged 2.57 kills per set in seven sets. The Victoria, Minn., native also had four blocks on the weekend including two solo blocks and averaged 0.57 blocks per set.
